Advocacy Toolkit for FY 2026/27 Budget Advocacy
The state is facing a multi-billion dollar deficit, and the Governor has included an additional $77 million for annualizing last year's budget and a new waiting list initiative. PAR and it's partners are asking for the legislature to support the following initiatives:
- Supporting the inclusion of a 6.9% increase ($180 million) for a rate increase for ID/A providers. This is an accrued percentage based off of inflation since the last rate increase in 2024.
- Supporting Annualized Rate increases, which ties future ID/A service rates to inflation and cost-of-living adjustments. Sustainable rates are necessary to ensure that wages for DSPs remain competitive and service delivery remains viable.
- Enacting policy changes that empower providers to deliver high-quality care more effectively. These include simplifying the system and encouraging a shift from over-compliance and an administratively burdened system towards a system that prioritizes care and support for individuals.
- Supporting HB 700, to permanently ensure that any savings generated from the reduction or sale of state centers stays in the ID/A system.
