What is a Medicaid Waiver?

A federally approved Medicaid provides funding to individuals so that they can receive home and community-based services and supports.

Pennsylvania offers several Home and Community Based Waivers that allow a person with disabilities to live in the community rather than in a nursing home or another institution.

Click on the name of the waiver to see what kinds of services that particular waiver covers and who is eligible to receive services and supports under it. (You will need to enable pop-ups from this site.)

The state of Pennsylvania is responsible for the management of its waivers; The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) oversee the waiver program.
