PAR providers offer comprehensive services to Pennsylvania citizens with mental retardation, autism & intellectual disabilities

Are you a person with an intellectual disability? Would you like to learn how to advocate for yourself?

An advocate is usually one who speaks on behalf of another. A self-advocate is someone who speaks for him or herself.

PAR staff Carol Albert with Self-Advocates Oscar Vargas and Karen KnorrThere are several self-advocacy groups in Pennsylvania. Speaking for Ourselves is one of the largest. They held the sixth annual Freedom March in Harrisburg on June 6th and PAR was among the sponsors. This photo of PAR staff Carol Albert and self-advocates Oscar Vargas and Karen Knorr was taken right before the March.
