The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services this week released a report identifying home health care as a critical component in providing care during a pandemic influenza event. The report offers resources to home health care providers and community planners to prepare for such an event.

The Center for Disease Control’s (CDC's) Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response (COTPER) released its inaugural report on public health emergency preparedness.

The report, Public Health Preparedness: Mobilizing State by State, highlights the progress that has been made in state and local preparedness and response, identifies preparedness challenges facing public health departments, and outlines CDC’s efforts to address those challenges.

Governor Proposes Dramatic Changes for Emergency Preparedness  --  VISIT

Governor Rendell last week issued a press release detailing his proposal to lessen the impact of future emergencies and natural disasters in Pennsylvania. His proposal includes the merger of state emergency and security agencies.
